Hello and welcome to By The NEC’s first weekly review. As well as bringing you the latest Moors news we’ll also now bring you a weekly overview of the Moors.

The beginning of the week saw first ten manager Mark Yates’ 48th Birthday, Yates has been instrumental in the survival push of late, steadying the ship and bringing consistency back to Damson Park in his short time with the club so far, Happy belated birthday, gaffer!

The main talking point of this week has been the signing of Adi Yussuf, the former Barrow striker agreed an 18 month contract with Mark Yates side. The acquisition went down very well with Solihull supporters on social networks, with a general consensus another striker could be key to the Moors National League survival push. The 25 year old, formerly of the likes of Leicester City and Burton Albion, made an immediate impact which you’ll hear all about a little later.

The main news this week comes in Moors’ shock 3-1 win against Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Park. The game was a SMFC debut for the aforementioned Adi Yussuf, and 39 of the Moors faithful saw the Tanzanian score two goals in the first 12 minutes, laying an excellent foundation for the rest of the game. Despite a 40th minute goal from Okenabirhie giving the home side momentum Moors ploughed on, restoring their two goal lead through substitute Dapo Afolayan’s 71st minute strike.

The end of the week sees Moors only one  point from safety, behind 20th place Barrow, who have two games in hand.
