Moors 3-2 Dover Athletic

The Moors have moved within two points of safety after a hard earned 3-2 victory in this Saturday’s ding-dong battle.

Despite a spirited start from Moors, the visitors took the lead from a well struck Ryan Bird penalty, the product of a mistimed tackle by Kyle Storer. Storer redeemed himself in the eyes of the home crowd shortly after, taking advantage of a loose ball to slot home.

The hosts’ fortunes changed shortly after, and they enjoyed a dominating spell coming close to scoring several time, most notably through Adi Yussuf, who failed to convert. A similar opportunity for Jamey Osbourne to put the Moors in front before the whistle couldn’t break the deadlock, and the sides went in level at half time.

It was the visitors who met the second forty-five as the better team, taking advantage of a muddled defensive display to allow Mitch Pinnock to fire home a tidy shot.

The game saw its second penalty called against Dover, dispatched by Thomas, brought down by a late challenge.

Alex Reid put the Moors in front for the first time with five minutes to go through a deftly-executed close-range finish. It came on the back of a series of confident breaks from the hosts, which saw Darren Carter denied several times.

The result sees Moors ever-closer to safety, but still in a precarious position.
